ACADEMIC CRITERIA
All students must meet the GERRIC academic criteria by providing evidence of their academic ability. Please review the criteria below to determine whether this program is suitable for your child.
Important: Each applicant must submit either one (1) document from Category A or two (2) documents from Category B as part of the registration process.
Category A (submit one document if using this category)
A student qualifies under Category A if they meet one of the following:

Scored at or above the 95th percentile (IQ 125+) on an individual or group IQ test; or scored at or above the 95th percentile on a subscale (e.g., verbal or performance) of an individual IQ test

Recipient of an Academic Scholarship

Identified as an accelerated student (in a relevant subject area or fully grade-accelerated)
Category B (submit two documents if using this category)
A student qualifies under Category B if they meet at least two of the following:

Placement in a full-time, self-contained class for academically gifted students (e.g., Opportunity Classes in NSW or selective school streams)

Achieved results in the top band of NAPLAN in a subject area related to the applied workshop

Achieved above 75% in school-based or standardised off-level testing

Received a Distinction or High Distinction in competitions such as:

Australian Schools Science or English Competitions
-
Australian Primary Mathematics Competition
-
International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) or similar

A signed letter from the school or a psychologist confirming that the student’s academic potential in any/all subject areas places them within the top 5% of the student population
